On March 20, 2013, Phil Werdell was invited to address the University of Florida’s Continuing Medical Education Grand Rounds at the Florida Recovery Center. The university live-webcasted his lecture, “Food Addiction Treatment for the Impaired Professional,” preserving the presentation so others could learn from Phil’s insights.
In August 2016, Phil sat for a “10 Words or Less” interview with Michael Prager, who helped found the Food Addiction Institute at Phil’s behest. Phil’s savvy, joyful presence shines through, as does his difficulty answering queries in 10 words or less.
The Food Addiction Institute’s first webinar sought to define common definitions for the treatment of Food Addiction. Phil and Dr. Vera Tarman, coauthors of “Food Junkies: The Truth about Food Addiction (first edition,” present valuable information on the criteria for the treatment of addiction to food and the use of food as substance abuse.
Phil and his partner, Mary Foushi are interviewed. They were founders of Acorn Food Dependency Recovery Services, whose Primary Intensives blazed a trail in post-hospital treatment of Food Addiction, and founding members of the Food Addiction Institute.
