"Healing Food Addiction, What Works"

One longstanding criticism of Food Addiction as a concept has been that not enough data exist to support it.

First, that’s less true today than ever. If you go to Google Scholar and search for “Food Addiction,” you get more than 23,000 hits. More than 40 percent have come since 2021, illustrating that the pace of research is hastening.

But also, while some held that complaint, plenty of evidence existed, and Phil Werdell, a Food Addiction pioneer whose role in the field is documented on this website, brought that evidence together in his last book, “Healing Food Addiction, What Works.”

Werdell had essentially completed the work before he died in 2023. After a period of mourning and organization, a small group completed its editing, design, and production. The group included Mary DiSanzo, his longtime editor (and, at his insistence, his coauthor for this book), and Mary Foushi, his partner in life and in Acorn Food Dependency Recovery Services.

It was presented to the speakers and other figures at the International Food Addiction and Comorbidities Conference in September in London, and is now available to the public for purchase.

Note: BookBaby’s royalty to The Food Addiction Institute, the book’s publisher, is by far the highest. But please, buy from wherever you are most comfortable.
